I am such a lucky man! I get to make my living writing and illustrating books for young people. Welcome to my website where you can read about my books, discover what I was like as a kid, and even try your hand at some of my puzzles.
What’s New with David?
Here are a few of the things I’ve been up to lately:
- Performing “The Rex and Mr. Fox Show” with Mike Wohnoutka at libraries around Minneapolis and St. Paul.
- Making a new friend while visiting schools in Texas.
- Reading Mr. Fox’s Game of “NO!” at the Saint Paul Saints game.
- Visiting the statue of the real Winnie-the-Pooh in Winnipeg.
- Admiring the clever examples for Go & Get with Rex created by the third graders at Turtle Lake School.
- Sending off the final artwork for my next book, This Superhero Needs Your Help!
- Presenting with the very talented and very funny Alan Katz at the Gaithersburg Book Festival in Maryland.
- Enjoying fun game nights with my creative and colorful friends.
- Welcoming the new plush version of Max from See the Cat.
- Reading See the Cat at the Tucson Book Festival with wonderful assistance from Ben Collinsworth.
- Working on new book projects.
It’s exciting to announce my latest picture book, How to Draw a Tree, beautifully illustrated by fellow Minnesotan Colleen Muske. Trees have always fascinated me, especially their varied shapes and sizes. Our new book encourages readers of all ages to spend time outside carefully observing nature before beginning to draw. You might be surprised by what you’ll discover.
And in January, the third book in my Draw & Erase Adventures series arrives: This Superhero Needs Your Help! Kazzam!
