I am such a lucky man! I get to make my living writing and illustrating books for young people. Welcome to my website where you can read about my books, discover what I was like as a kid, and even try your hand at some of my puzzles.
What’s New with David?
Here are a few of the things I’ve been up to lately:
- Celebrating our book See the Dog with Mike Wohnoutka at Library Day during the Minnesota State Fair.
- Exploring the Canadian Rockies with my best friend Gary.
- Carving plenty of pumpkins.
- Visiting lots of schools across the state and around the country, with Mike Wohnoutka, and on my own.
- Searching for geocaches.
- Presenting at a St. Paul Saints baseball game with Mike.
- Meeting Paul Bunyan and Babe during school visits in Eau Claire, WI.
- Winning the Minnesota Book Award with Mike Wohnoutka for How to Apologize.
- Introducing our upcoming book, See the Ghost: Three Stories About Things You Cannot See, to the students and teachers in Becker, Minnesota.
- Working on new book projects.
I am excited to have two new picture books being published in 2023!
In April, 100 Mighty Dragons All Named Broccoli, beautifully illustrated by Lian Cho, will be released.
And in July, See the Ghost: Three Stories About Things You Cannot See, masterfully illustrated by Mike Wohnoutka, will be released. You can read a conversation between Mike and me and view a unique piece of art Mike created for See the Ghost here.
See Mike give me a lesson on How to Apologize!
And don’t forget our new picture book, How to Apologize, a humorous guidebook that provides plenty of examples of how (and how not!) to say “I’m sorry.”
